Habitat for Humanity House Build

Can you believe it? This will be the 27th house built through UPC’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County and other local partners, which will provide affordable housing for a local family. Our kickoff date this year (a little later than normal) will be Saturday, June 24.

We are excited to once again be a part of the “Hearts and Hammers” partnership and are eager to start this house for Poe Htoo and Eh Paw family with their three children, Clay, John, and Josie Paw. Poe Htoo and Eh Paw both work as housekeepers at The Carolina Inn. The family has been in Chapel Hill for nine years and is currently living in a cramped apartment in Northside. What is exciting about this house is it is located in the Northside neighborhood and is a close commute for Poe Htoo and Eh Paw!

We would love to have your help on the work site. Volunteer dates run from June 24 to September 30 (volunteer dates are all on Saturdays). If you are interested in volunteering, please contact John Rogers at or Brian Curran at
