2018 Women’s Retreat: Celtic Spirituality

Mar 4, 2018

All women of the church are invited to join the 2018 Women’s Retreat!

When: Saturday, April 21,
9:00-4:00 p.m.

Where: New Hope Camp and
Conference Center

Speaker: Rev. Edna Banes

Theme: Celtic Spirituality

The Rev. Edna Banes will discuss Celtic Spirituality: learning to pray with a broom in our hands. In the midst of the busy-ness of life, it is often difficult to find time and place to pray.  Join us as we explore the Celtic tradition and discover how everyday activities can be a means of connecting to God and one another. Through song, conversation, art, and movement, we will learn Celtic ways of praying, and the group will spend time in prayer while walking the labyrinth on the grounds.

Edna Jacobs Banes served as associate pastor at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, Virginia, and then as Dean of Students and Chaplain at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond and Charlotte. While at Richmond, she also taught courses in Spiritual Formation and Celtic Christianity. She and her husband, Warren, retired to Montreat, NC, four years ago. A native of Clinton, South Carolina, she is happy to be close to her home town again. She and Warren have two grown children and twin grandsons, aged three.

Registration is open through March 30. Click here to register. The cost is $25 for the retreat, which includes lunch. If you have questions, need help with registration, or would like financial assistance, contact Kate Fiedler (kate@upcch.org or 919-929-2102).
