Weekly Announcements

VBS Volunteers Needed!

VBS will be June 28-July 1, and at this point we have every intention of being in person at Camp New Hope!  Our theme “Hero Central” will help us explore some Bible heroes and ways that we, too, can be heroic with God’s help!
Some things will look different this year.  All activities will be outside only.  We will be masked at all times.  In order for us to keep manageable numbers so we can implement appropriate precautions, we will be limiting groups to 10 children each, and registration will only be open to those who are members/visitors of UPC or New Hope Presbyterian Church.  You can find more information on the VBS website: upcch.org/vbs.  We hope you’ll register as a volunteer and join us in June!  Click here to go directly to the volunteer registration page.

UPC Pentecost Picnic (May 23)

Mark your calendars now for our Pentecost Picnic on May 23! We’re making plans for a fun, socially distanced gathering at Camp New Hope as an opportunity for us to spend time together and meet our new members and staff. Bring a picnic lunch, chairs/blankets, yard games, mask, and be ready to have fun with our church family! All COVID-19 regulations will be followed. If you are interested, please fill out this Google form to help us know how best to plan within those regulations.

UPPS Scholarship Fund

University Presbyterian Preschool (UPPS) provides a number of partial and full scholarships each year to assist families with the cost of tuition. Over the last three school years, we have given over $25,000 in such assistance, which is solicited through donations and fundraisers. UPPS has remained open during the pandemic, but for safety reasons, we are unable to hold our typical in-person fundraisers.  Would you be willing to donate? If so, please click here to donate online.

        Easter Sunday Worship (April 4)

When you come to worship this morning, please bring cut flowers to add to the cross on the UPC front lawn as a reminder of the new life made known to us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bring them from your yard, pick up your favorite Trader Joe’s special, or stop at Harris Teeter on your way to church. Any flower or plants of beauty will do to help bring this cross to life! If you are not attending worship but still want to bring flowers, please bring them in the afternoon.

        Gifts of Beauty and Bounty

We are grateful for all who purchased lilies and/or donated to the Inter-Faith Council for Social Services. To view the presentation of the names of those honored and memorialized by these gifts, click here.

One Great Hour of Sharing Offering

It is our tradition on Easter Sunday to collect an offering for One Great Hour of Sharing, which supports efforts to relieve hunger through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, promote development through the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People, and assist in areas of disaster through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. To learn more about this offering, click here.
