Back-pocket Phrases for Deepening Conversation

Aug 21, 2018

Sometimes figuring out how best to help someone you care about can be difficult not only because you are not sure what they need most but because they don’t know what they need most. Part of pastoral care giving, especially in the beginning of a care relationship, is helping the care receiver find his/her own voice and recognize his/her own needs–only then can authentic expression of thoughts and feelings really begin to happen.

Please join us for this session on Monday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the Stephen Ministry Room to learn more about some open-ended questions and phrases you can offer a care receiver that might help get the conversation going. This session is informal and interactive and will be led by Hadley Kifner, a chaplain at UNC Health Care.
