RESCHEDULED – SoSA Crop Drop

May 11, 2022

What: Crop Drop with the Society of St. Andrew

Date: May 26, 2022 (this is a change!)

Time: 8 am-12 pm

Location: Iglesia Emmauel in Durham (2504 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704)

About: The Society of St. Andrew is an organization that gleans fields to provide food for the hungry. On May 24, there will be a “crop drop” – a tractor trailer full of potatoes will be delivered, and SoSA needs help bagging them up for distribution! The drop will start at 8:00 am with unloading the pallets full of potatoes off the truck using a forklift. Volunteers will then bag the potatoes that are sitting on the pallets, making and tying off 10-pound bags. Local agencies will come pick up the potatoes, and some volunteers may help with loading the bags into vehicles. Drops usually last 3-4 hours; volunteers can stay as long as they like.

What to Bring: Gloves are welcome but not required (the potatoes will need to be washed before they are eaten)

To Register: Volunteers must register in advance; click here to register as a volunteer and then sign up to help on May 24
