The Chancel Choir strives to offer its best to God in the work of worship.
Open to 6th grade – adults
Rehearses Wednesdays 7-8:30 pm
The University Presbyterian Chancel Choir leads worship from September through May primarily at the 11 am service.
The Chancel Choir rehearses regularly on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm, and again on Sunday mornings from 10 am. The Choir’s repertoire ranges from Renaissance polyphony to modern masterworks. The Choir is the centerpiece of A Festival of Christmas Lessons and Carols, offered each year during Advent. Participation in the Chancel Choir offers unique opportunities for musical, intellectual and spiritual growth, an occasion for service and offering to God, and the chance for fun and fellowship.
New members are always welcome to the Choir. Specific requirements for membership include the ability to match musical pitches, the commitment to attend all regular rehearsals and Services, and a willingness and openness to learning and growth. Although a background in choral singing and the ability to read musical notation are very helpful, they are not required for membership. Anyone interested in knowing more about or joining the Chancel Choir should feel free to contact the Director of Music.
