Looking for the Pastor On-Call? Call 919.929.2102 x 133

We’re here for you when things get tough.

Pastoral care offers support during life’s major turning points, as well as during extended periods of disability and recovery. We seek to offer timely, professional pastoral care in a personal and confidential manner. We respect your right to privacy and keep information and conversations confidential, sharing only that which we have been given specific permission to share.

If you have a concern or a request to share, you can confidentially reach our pastoral team via the form below.

The spectrum of pastoral care at UPC

We offer a range of pastoral care options within our congregation, with the recognition that different needs may require different levels of training and care. It is important to note that pastoral care is not therapy or counseling, as our pastoral staff are not licensed providers. Sometimes, pastoral care may involve making a reference to therapy or counseling for specific support and help.

Ways we offer care at UPC include:

Prayer Ministry: the white board in the office and the bulletin sidebar all hold the names of those for whom we pray

Deacons: provide a pastoral and caring presence through ministries such as visitation, receptions for memorial services, meal trains, and more. Each deacon serves as the point of contact for neighborhoods within our congregation.

Meal Trains: for every new baby born and for those facing loss or other difficult seasons

Mental Health Taskforce: educational opportunities and referral support

Stephen Ministry: connects trained lay Stephen Ministers with those who need one-to-one Christian support, a listening ear, non-judgmental presence, or an encouraging word.

Pastoral Visits: by pastoral staff in the hospital or home or office

Grief Group: periodic 6 week, small group grief education and support

Support for Addicts: clergy can connect folks to AA through UPC friends

Emergency pastoral care

Emergency pastoral care is available via our on-call line: 919.929.2102 x 133. Calling this number (especially after hours or on the weekends) will connect you with a member of our pastoral staff who can respond in a timely manner to your urgent concerns.

Note: the on-call pastor does not handle assistance requests.
