About Worship at UPC
Worship is a vital part of our life together. Our worship is:
- Traditional: We follow the same basic worship structure each week, with scripture reading, prayers, liturgy, and an affirmation of faith. Our clergy wear robes to lead worship.
- Musical: We love singing together! We sing hymns accompanied by an organ, and our chancel choir sings sacred choral music.
- Liturgical: We follow the Christian calendar and observe seasons such as Lent and Advent.
- Thoughtful: Each service is thoughtfully prepared with the morning’s scripture and theme in mind, and the sermons offered are thought-provoking and encouraging. We’ve been known to throw in some creative elements, too!
- Intergenerational: All ages are welcome and included. Worship bags are available for our younger worshipers, and there is a “Time with Children” offered during the service when all children are invited forward and led in learning by one of our worship leaders.
- Inclusive: All are welcome to worship. We welcome individuals of every age, race, nationality, gender identity and expression, ability, sexual orientation, and economic circumstance to participate fully in the life of the church.
- Centered on grace: We believe in and proclaim the good news that God is love, and that love is for everyone.
