This is a great opportunity for members to give back to the church while getting to know the administrative staff! Substitute volunteers fill in when our regular volunteers cannot work their shifts for any reason.
The greatest need for non-financial support from other communities continues to be Host Volunteers. The church provides 24-hour coverage for the Sanctuary guest, which means having Host Volunteers commit, on a regular basis, to a four-hour/day shift (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) or a 12-hour overnight shift from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Monetary Donations: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is the emergency and refugee program of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. They have a wonderful record of focusing on long-term recovery and partnering with local and international agencies. The core budget is funded through our One Great Hour of Sharing offering. The Haiti Mission Trip will be from Wednesday, January 30 – Thursday, February 7, 2019. It will be a very full eight-day trip. We will meet with our Haiti partners and get an update on programs and projects UPC supports. We will also run teacher workshops, as well as train teachers who can be workshop leaders. UPC is a sponsor of the annual 519 Church 5K race to be held on September 29. The race raises funds for Family Health Ministries’ Women’s Clinic in Tom Gato, Haiti. This year’s course runs through Perimeter Park in Morrisville, NC. In addition to the 5K, there will be a 1-mile fun run so that families can come out and run together. Strollers and dogs
